Yorba Ranch Building to be Salvaged

Yorba Linda Star February 4 1987 page 1

The historic Bryant Ranch building gutted by fire Dec. 29 will still be salvaged for eventual use as a community center, thanks to a unanimous vote Monday night by the Yorba Linda City Council.

Despite the extensive damage to the two-story building on La Palma Avenue, a staff report concluded that the majority of the building could be repaired and refurbished while staying within cost limits originally set for the project. Staff estimates put the cost of repairing the damage to the building between $100-$120,000.

The building, constructed in the 1920s as an arboretum in the Bryant Ranch complex, is slated to be donated to the city by C-W Associates within the next two years as development progresses in C-W's Lomas de Yorba Ranch project but could be donated sooner. Council members also directed staff to look into measures to protect the building from further damage.

Also at Monday night's meeting, the council voted in favor of moving council meetings to the first and third Tuesday of each month.
